Another Kind of Anniversary

These are the actual vows I penned for my wife at our wedding in 2006. Pray that God helps me keep them.

Thanks,

My Vows

Given to My Bride at Our Wedding

Copyright 2006: S.J. Walker; All Rights Reserved

As God is my witness,

I promise, that I will love you my whole life,

you and no other.

I promise, that only God will come before you.

As we become one flesh, I promise

that I will love you as my own body,

“For no man ever hated his own flesh

but nourishes and carefully protects

and cherishes it, as Christ does the Church”.

I promise, that I will protect you--

even give my very life for you.

I promise that I will honor you and your place

in our home, that I will give you

the love and tenderness you need

and deserve.

I promise, that I will be the father to our children--

however we are so blessed,

and I will

raise them up in the way they should go.

I promise, that I will be a man of faith, and honor,

so that you will not have to wonder

where I stand.

I promise that I will be your man--

God’s man in your life.

Your hurts will be my hurts

your joy will be my joy

your family will be

my family,

and the Lord will be our God.

I am a broken man as I stand before you,

but I am impenetrable

with you by my side.

God has given me a wonderful helper,

for it is not good

for this man to be alone.

I am as unwise as I am young, yet I promise,

that I will pray continually for the wisdom

to lead our home along the path God has chosen.

You will be my wife,

and I will be your man.

And the Lord almighty will be our Head.

This is my vow to you, my love, and to all those present,

I will keep these promises. So help me God.

S.J.,

That vow made my eyes moist... it's so beautiful, very Biblical and oh, I don't know what other accolades I can heap on it (I'm at a loss for words).

I'd like permission to link to this post from my blog if it's possible.

God bless,

Sandra:
Thank you. Marriage is such a beautiful thing. In it we are given a picture lesson about God, Christ, and His redeemed. The longer I go, and the more I ponder and study, the more amazing it becomes how much we can learn about salvation from Biblical marriage, and of marriage from Biblical Salvation. God is good.
Thanks you for the note of encouragement.

Carol:
Beautiful words only by the Grace of God. May He give me strength to uphold them as well as pen them, or they will be meaningless.

Adn God bless my wife!

Blessings on you little brother and my dear sweet sister. I sure landed on my feet with you as a brother of such impeccable taste.

Give that bride of yours a hug from me. And I will be in prayer about the upcoming conference.

Who are you calling little!?

grrr. I hate being short.

Thanks Sis. You're not bad for a girl yourself. And we all landed on our feet when Bethy came into the picture.

And yes, be praying diligently about the conference.

God Bless, and tell the World's Cutest Niece 'hello' from Uncle Sam

Having not met you till a week before you married my Bethy, I was so overjoyed to see how much you loved her... and to hear it in those words two years ago made me realize what an awesome thing it was that God gave you and Beth to each other. God bless you guys on this anniversary (a little late I know :)) and through the upcoming year!

Leeann,

Thanks Sis. I do love Beth. And she does me. I appreciate what a great encouragement and friend you were, are, and will remain to be for her, and me.

The Father honors such things among His people.

God speed your way out here soon.
